Who We Are

Meet the Bernardes Family

Tucked away on a peaceful hobby farm, the Bernardes family lives a life rich in movement, meaning, and memory-making. Meet Dean and Annie Bernardes and their two sons, Maxxim and Maddox — a tight-knit family of four who are always on the go, but never too busy to savour the moments that matter most.

The Bernardes family — Dean, Annie, Maxxim, and Maddox

Where It All Began

Dean and Annie’s story starts in the gym — a place where strength is built, both physically and personally. Their shared passion for health and wellness laid the foundation for a lasting partnership, one filled with early morning walks, laughter, and the joy of raising two boys who are now growing into strong, capable young men. A marriage blessed with many years, Dean and Annie are still writing stories and creating memories together.

Building a Life Through Work and Service

Dean, a graduate of LDSS and Fanshawe College’s Engineering program, brings a hands-on work ethic to everything he does — from early days in the automotive sector to plumbing new builds, personal home construction, renovations, and landscaping. After a longstanding career in agriculture, Dean has now pivoted to entrepreneurship. Annie, a graduate of KDHS and St. Clair College in Computer Administration, has made her mark in education, community service, and agriculture. Together, they model resilience, dedication, and integrity — not only for their sons but for their community as well.

They now operate a family business, LPS — Leamington Pool & Spa, giving them a unique opportunity to blend professional life with parenting.

“We’re teaching our boys life skills through real-life experiences. It’s a blessing to spend this time together — because at the end of the day, memories are what we carry with us.”

— Annie Bernardes

Sport Is the Heartbeat of the Household

In the Bernardes home, sports aren’t just extracurricular — they’re a way of life.

Maxxim, an accomplished soccer player, has played locally in Kingsville and Leamington, and beyond with the Macomb Nationals in Michigan — winning the Michigan State Cup. He has proudly represented Tecumseh in the OPDL and Leamington SC while training with the St. Clair Saints, balancing his love for the game with academics. A graduate of Erie Migration District School, he now has his sights set on Construction Engineering this fall at St. Clair College’s Windsor campus, and he currently represents the St. Clair College men’s soccer team. Not one to sit still, Maxxim has also sported a jersey in the Lake Erie North Shore Travel Hockey League for the past several seasons.

Maddox, equally athletic, shares his brother’s soccer roots. An enthusiastic golfer, he’s developing his skills as both an individual and team player through a JR Golf membership. In recent years, hockey has captured Maddox’s heart — he’s worked his way up to the Lake Erie North Shore Travel Hockey League, wearing #78 with pride. He’s also active in school volleyball and hockey.

Through it all, Dean and Annie remain the boys’ biggest fans — and their unofficial Uber drivers.

Community On and Off the Field

“We’re avid sports fans and full-time chauffeurs,” Dean jokes. “Most of our community involvement revolves around the rink, the pitch, and cheering from the sidelines.” But it’s more than just transportation — it’s connection. The Bernardes are deeply embedded in the rhythm of the local sports scene, forming friendships and supporting youth development.

“We truly encourage our kids to get out and learn with us, and we extend that learning to their peers. These children are all of our future — someone just needs to make the time.”

Their country lifestyle complements their busy schedule perfectly. “Living in the country gives us space to move and breathe,” says Annie. “It’s quiet, grounding, and lets us connect with nature after the hustle of practices and tournaments.”

Travel: From Beaches to Bleachers

While warm-weather destinations have traditionally been the Bernardes’ go-to for family vacations, recent years have rewritten their travel story. “Now, our travel revolves around the boys’ sports schedules,” says Annie. “From early mornings at tournaments to road trips for away games, it’s a different kind of adventure — but one we wouldn’t trade.” The car rides make for great conversation time — and extra naps as well.

Where you’ll find them depends on the season: a hockey rink in winter or a soccer pitch in summer. Either way, it’s always a family affair.

A Legacy of Love and Living Fully

Above all, the Bernardes family is a testament to the power of showing up — at games, in business, and for each other. They live by example, teaching their children the importance of balance, movement, hard work, and heartfelt connection.

“We’re a close foursome. And every chapter we write together — whether it’s running a business, cheering in the stands, or just walking at sunrise — is a story we’ll cherish.”

— Dean Bernardes

And that, in the end, is what makes the Bernardes family a standout in our community: a family that plays together, grows together, and inspires others to live with purpose and joy.
